Adventures of the Great Deep

Learn how to create an underwater landscape with mixed media materials. In this class, students will create sea creatures both realistic and fantastic by using clay, paint, paper and found materials. Altered Art (Cartoon Style)

Beginning Oil Painting

If you’ve always wanted to try oil paint, this is a great opportunity to give them a try.  Learn basic painting techniques, color mixing, composition, scale, brushwork, form and value while using one of the oldest painting mediums. Paintings will be made primarily from direct observation of still lift set ups.  A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.  Materials list is available in the office.  Please pick one up prior to the first class.

Cartooning

During this course students will use basic shapes and lines to create forms of cartoon characters. With these basic ideas, students will create features for their characters and learn how they all joined together to make a finished piece. Colorful Collage

Students will enjoy a fine-arts approach to collage using mixed media.  Students will explore the concept of many different forms creating one whole, as well as how surrealism and cubism have found their way into the concept of "collage".  Students will be using many different kinds of materials.  A $30. materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Colorful Creations

Color, color and more color!  In this class young artists will learn about different color families while making works of art of their own.  Students will study warm, cool, complimentary, primary, secondary colors and more.  Students will even make a color wheel of our own.  Students will work  with a variety of media such as paint, pastels, markers, crayons and clay.  A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Drawing & Painting for Teens

This class includes a variety of drawing media such as pastel, ink, and pencil.  Students will learn the techniques of crosshatching, stippling, contour and structure drawing. Drawing from Life

Learn the basic foundations of drawing by studying and observing objects from life (still-life, landscape, figural, etc.). Shape/form, negative space, shadow/light, and composition will be the main areas of focus.  Students will explore drawing using a variety of exciting mediums, and will also be learning how to keep a sketchbook.  The class will be held both outside and inside.  Students will also learn art history by looking at the drawings of artists such as Degas, Seurat, Leonardo Da Vinci, and more!   A $30 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.
