Hundreds turned out for the Phantom Ball, held for the first time at the Westside Entertainment Complex (better known as the Italian Social Club) in West Chester. It was decided to hold the event off-site, partly to draw a new, younger audience unfamiliar with CCAA’s annual events. The event – in its planning stages since mid-July – included an entire evening packed with activities including a costume competition, a timed “mummy” wrap, and treasure chest (buy the right key and you won a real diamond ring!)
Aside from the costumes, the main attraction that night was the sheer number of great prizes CCAA received from friends and supporters. First prize for the best costume, for instance, was four Flyers tickets (a $360 value) and a Flyers hockey puck signed by Jeff Carter. The silent auction’s top prize was a $575 hand-blown “Anemone” glass vase, a new addition from the Simon Pearce collection (and signed by the artist himself).
The event benefits CCAA’s artREACH programs.
