It was a dark and stormy night……
Despite a torrential rain fall, complete with lighting flashes, the first annual Pumpkin “Art” Carve and Fall Festival was deemed a success. In fact, the night might have been scary, but judging from the dozens of families and the intensity of the pumpkin carvers – many of them looking pensive as they carved smiley pumpkin faces in the pouring rain – everyone was determined to put their best face forward, so to speak.

At one point, the carvers regrouped and took shelter under the trees along CCAA’s lower parking lot. There, representatives from Starbucks provided free coffee and cider, while families took part in the “make-and-take-your own scarecrow,” face painting or pumpkin “painting” (for kids too young to carve).

Best of all, the free admission ensured that the event attracted a diverse crowd including young families and carvers from outside the area. Next year, many, many pumpkin heads are sure to roll!
