chasing george washington

Field trips are fun, especially when your destination is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!  In this charming and exciting new musical, Dee, Jose, and Annie accidentally knock George Washington out of his portrait and into real life –turning their class tour of the White House into an unexpected adventure.

As they try to get the nation’s First president back into his painting, the threesome encounters Jacqueline Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd, Dolly Madison, and other famous White House residents.  Together, they learn that the White House isn’t just a historic building…it’s also a home.

The performance on Sunday November 8, 2009 is open to the public.  Tickets are available at the door.  CCAA also has worked with the Chester County Intermediate Unit to provide this performance on Monday, November 9, 2009 to 2400 public school children throughout Chester County free of charge.  This is one of the many ways CCAA brings the arts to our community.

A special thank you to Justice William H. Lamb, Board Member of the Kennedy Center and our sponsors,  Barbara and Frederick Travaglini, Shire Pharmaceuticals, Novak Strategic Advisors, The Bancorp Bank, Goldberg Meanix & Muth, Lamb, McErlane, VFIM, Ameriprise Financial, Stewart Huston Foundation, Stanford Zukin,  and Grieco Management.

CCAA has and continues to raise all the funds to get them here --  $20,000.  Whatever we raise over, we keep.

WCU sells tickets to the sunday performance on November 8 at 3:00.  CCAA then gives two performances free to the Chester County Intermediate Unit and they bus in over 2400 fourth graders who see the show free.  It is a terrific opportuntiy for CCAA!!
