James S. Voorhees Jr. began his career in art with classes at CCAA. He completed a BFA in Illustration at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Jim has a Masters of Art Teaching degree at the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia. He has taught art at the high school level in the Octorara Area School District during which time he completed a second Masters of Art in Illustration at Syracuse University in upstate NY. Last year he took a position in the Downingtown Area School District teaching ceramics, drawing and painting, textiles, and fashion. Jim continues to practice his own craft, creating carefully rendered watercolor caricature portraits for clients throughout Chesco and Main Line.


The Chester County Art Association receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
