Students will learn to use natural light to create beautiful, intimate, emotional portaits. Learn how to control depth of field to focus the viewer's attention and create drama within a portrait. Photographers will also learn how to select the proper lenses for this type of work. Photographers will be guided through moving beyond the typical portrait to create truly captivating "Uncommon Portraits." A $65 materials fee is payable to the instructor.

Jeff Dippel

Jeff Dippel, a Rochester, NY native, graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a BFA degree in ceramics and design, after which he served in the American Peace Corps in India for two years; then a year teaching at the American International School of Calcutta. Since then, while teaching in public schools in Ohio and PA, as well as adult education, he has done freelance design, photography, and sign painting, in various exhibits, including a solo show at CCAA, Dippel had shown photography, ceramics, collage and wood work.

Wet Transfer Print Making (Photography)

A printmaking class for both photographers and other visual artists. This class will teach students a unique digital printmaking technique similar in feel to a Polaroid transfer, but with the advantage of being able to use virtually any digital image. The process starts with an inkjet print made on specially coated sheets of polyester film. The print is then transferred to wet sheets of watercolor paper. The results bring a new dimension to digital photography, introducing imperfections and rough edges that produce truly on-of-a-kind prints. A $50 materials fee is payable to the instructor.

Cris Staley Hutchinson

Cris Staley Hutchinson has a BA in Photography from Virginia Intermont College and a MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. She is a teacher of photography, a custom black and white printer, and a studio photographer. Artistically, Cris works primarily in the traditional black and white medium, often pairing images and working in series. She utilizes the adaptability of the chemical science in darkroom photography to observe and create renewed perspectives.
