Each participant must sign up for the event due to limited spaces. Zentangle Basics
Saturday 9/30/2023 from 10:00AM - 12:00PM Looking for a way to unwind from stress, focus your thoughts, or explore your creative side? In this class, you will learn the basics of Zentangle’s creative and relaxing method of art. By using this method, easy-to-learn repetitive patterns (called tangles), and deliberate pen strokes, you will create an abstract piece of art while entering into a relaxed and focused meditative state. You do NOT need to know how to draw! In this class you’ll learn basic Zentangle patterns and shading to give them more dimensions. Zentangle has the potential to deliver artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well-being. Benefits from the Zentangle method are relaxation, stress and anxiety relief, mindfulness, access to a self-directed art method (that may be practiced at your own pace, in your own time), and creative freedom (to explore art without the fear of making mistakes) Required Supplies

Supervised Printing Lab in Black and White Photographic Darkroom
Thursday 10/5/2023 from 6:30PM - 9:30PM Bring your 35mm black and white negatives and join us for this faculty supervised printing in a traditional darkroom. Print your own black and white photographs by hand. Instructor with over 30 years printing experience will guide you and assist you in the process. Past basic darkroom experience a plus and your own negatives are required to get started! Required Supplies

Zentangled Embedded Letters
Saturday 10/7/2023 from 10:00am - 12:00pm In this class you will use Zentangle “tangles” (patterns) and techniques to draw and then embellish letters of the alphabet. These make beautiful, personalized artworks for yourself or a gift for someone else. The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn fun and relaxing way to create beautiful images by drawing structured, repeated patterns. It increases focus and creativity and provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal wellbeing. Some benefits and uses include relaxation, simple and quick access to mindfulness, and it has been shown to help with insomnia, chronic pain, anxiety, self-esteem, panic attacks and improves fine motor skills, relieves stress, and is great for team building. No artistic ability is required. It is helpful if you have done a basic Zentangle class, but it is not essential. If you can hold a pen and write your name, you’ll be just fine! Required Supplies

To find inner peace amidst life's chaos, I paint mandalas to portray the interconnectedness and harmony between order and disorder. Finding the delicate balance between self-nurturing and caring for others can be challenging. Nurturing yourSelf offers hope and healing. Mandala Art Retreat Experience the art of painting mandalas while you sip Indian Chai and immerse yourself in meditative music. In this three-hour retreat, you will create a beautiful 6"x 6" acrylic painting of a mandala, and you will enjoy the experience of painting your unique piece! The retreat begins with sharing gratitude, followed by a Sanskrit Prayer, a short presentation about mandala art, and storytelling. No art background required. Required Supplies

Pinched Pumpkins!
Thursday 10/25/2023 from 1:30pm - 4:30pm Learn how to create Clay Pumpkins using pinch pots and a combination of coil and pulling stems. We will learn how to manipulate the form to create a realistic surface. Pumpkins can be various sized and shaped, finish them with a natural look, more paintery look with underglaze, or carve your pumpkin for a jack-o-lantern effect. Ages 14+ Required Supplies

Mommy & Me Workshop Ages 3-5
Thursday 10/26/2023 from 10:00AM - 12:00PM Preschool Art Classes (ages 3 to 5) Children in this age category gleefully create their own masterpieces using a wide range of quality art materials. Preschool Art Classes develop skills important for school success such as fine motor skills, language, cognitive skills and the ability to listen and follow directions in our enchanting environment. Children are introduced and may develop the following abilities which are incorporated into each art lesson: School readiness skills, New language, Brain power, Creativity and imagination. Mother's of children enrolled in the workshop are expected to stay during the entirety of the each workshop. Required Supplies

Mixed Media Encaustic
Friday 10/27 and Saturday 10/28 from 10:00am - 4:00pm This workshop involves the exploration of encaustic, one of the most exciting and versatile mediums available to the contemporary artist. Open to artists from beginning to advanced levels of development, no prior experience in encaustic painting is necessary. This workshop is taught from a hands-on approach, as participants are encouraged to develop a personal vocabulary by applying these new techniques to their current ideas and methodologies. This workshop introduces participants to the basics of encaustic painting as well as a variety of intermediate-advanced techniques. The information and techniques covered in this workshop include equipment and safety issues, tools, grounds and substrates, application and painting techniques, fusing, color mixing, incising, sgraffito, creating texture, surface manipulation, photo transfer and collage. Historical and contemporary issues and practices involving encaustic are further explored through a preliminary slide lecture. Required Supplies
