Jewelry and Fashion Design

Drawing Inspiration from Animals!
Week 1 - 6/17 to 6/21 from 9 AM - 12:15 PM Ages 8 - 12 *No Wednesday Camp Take a closer look at the connection between artists and the animals near and dear to their hearts! Artists like Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, Eric Carle and more, all drew inspiration from animals they encountered during their lives. We will create pieces in similar styles to theirs, that feature magnificent creatures out in the wild. Come along and create expressive, colorful drawings and paintings of animals big and small while practicing techniques with a variety of drawing and painting materials! Heart Bowls Ages 12+

Campers will craft rod, shadow, and moving mouth puppets using an array of materials including paper mache, cardboard, foam, felt, and wood. From whimsical creatures to heroes to animals, each participant will design their own characters and bring them to life in this mixed media camp. They will learn how to chain, single crochet, and add rows. Students will be able to work at their own pace with support in making whatever beginner project they choose. All students will be able to take home their finished and in-progress pieces along with their own crochet hook, tapestry needles, and a skein of yarn of their choice to get them started on their own future projects. Crochet is an excellent practice to introduce your young artist to because once the technique is learned, the potential is limitless. After they take this class and learn the foundations, there are many resources available for them to take their talents to the next level. World of Imagination … in Clay Ages
Week 2 - 6/24 to 6/28 from 12:45 PM - 4 PM Ages 6-9 Learn the fundamental skills of hand building – pinch pots, coils and slabs – while making a series fantastical creations. Ceramic Garden Stepping Stone
Week 3 - 7/1 to 7/3 from 12:45 PM - 4 PM Ages 13 - 17 Campers will be using hand building methods to make a decorated stepping stone for any outdoor space. Campers will use the slab roller to make a shaped slab with their hand print in the middle. The slab will then be decorated by the camper using an array of different methods and colors. Wind Chimes

Intro to Wheel Throwing

This class will focus on basic skills like centering, pulling and shaping. Trimming, attaching clay to the thrown form and altering thrown forms will be introduced as well. Wheel Thrown Animal Cups

Weaving
Week 6 - 7/22 to 7/26 from 12:45 PM - 4 PM Ages 7 - 12 In this super fun weaving class, students will begin the week practicing their weaving skills with popsicle sticks, then move to painted paper plates, and finally will be making their own decorative, weaved bowls. Students will be taking home all of their final projects as well as all the weaving potential of common household objects around them. This class will appeal to all young artists as most elementary students enjoy this form of tactile art. Additionally, students will be sharpening their fine motor skills and get practice in measuring and pattern making. Intermediate Crochet
Week 8 - 8/5 to 8/9 from 9 AM - 12:15 PM Ages 9 - 17 This class is designed for artists that have some prior experience with crochet and an understanding of the foundations (chains and single crochets). Through this workshop, I will work with artists and help them plan out larger projects like making shirts, sweaters, blankets, or anything else their hearts desire. Note that this class is not specifically for those wanting to learn amigurumi (intricate stuffed animals). Slab Plates
Week 8 - 8/5 to 8/9 from 12:45 PM - 4 PM Ages 11-17 Campers will be handbuilding slab rolled plates. These plates will be decorated using sgraffito, underglaze transfer, and rolled textures. Each camper will be able to make any shaped plate that will be slumped over a mold. These plates encourage creative freedom with every camper making totally unique plates. Single Flower Vase
Week 9 - 8/12 to 8/16 from 12:45 PM - 4 PM Ages 14 - 17 Campers will get into more advanced throwing techniques with collaring in in order to make many single flower vases.
